[Choosing devices] Functional requirements, security, and cost of smart USB tokens can be studied to assemble an optimized pool of devices from those offered in the eKeynox partner catalog, where each model is specifically adapted to the target. With mobile telephones generally belonging to bank customers, a phone-oriented approach is necessary for choosing the platforms that the bank wishes to maintain.
[Definition and deployment] After defining security policy, digital certificates, and bank service bookmarks for each device group, the eKeynox service takes charge of deploying them via the Internet leveraging the bank's client directory and PKI.
[Maintenance] Services offered in this solution may be updated by centralized maintenance operations. For example, these operations can update the Web browser and renew digital certificates. eKeynox can also unblock users who forget their PIN codes, or block the eKeynox application on a lost or stolen device (including revoking digital certificates).
In terms of security, the solution is based on mutual client-server authentication using digital certification and physical protection provided by the smart card. This complete control over the bank's client software guarantees that:
- No malware can corrupt eKeynox software, including the Web browser.
- Client applications are always up-to-date, in particular with respect to security patches.
- Reliable information regarding usage is reported on a regular basis.
